Linus Quilts 2017 (part 1)

With our second Linus sewing day looming, we've now photographed and counted the quilts made at our first sewing day back in January, and those made at home and donated since then - a fabulous 34 in all!

Many thanks to everyone who has worked on and/or donated these. Oddly, our Linus stash hasn't gone down very much!

Suitcase Collection

This month we borrowed Region 8's new suitcase collection, a number of small (max A3 size) quilts, stored in a lovely vintage suitcase.

The collection started life as a competition at Region 8's 'big exhibition' at Blackthorpe Barns in April 2016, and has been added to since. The quilts are all very different and each represents something about the region (Suffolk and Essex), for example, a childhood memory, something historical, a view.

Click here to see photos from the 'big exhibition', amongst which is a distant sneaky preview of the collection.

This one was added to the collection by a member of the group - again, just a snippet.

If you belong to a group in Region 8 and would like to hire the collection to see the lovely quilts in person as it were, contact the Committee via the usual means. The ideas, the stitching, the techniques and the thoughts behind them are all worth close inspection.

Pebbles Workshop #2

Another fabulous day spent with Alex Waylett making 'pebbles' panels. There is an awful lot of stitch on these panels, and some are not quite finished, nevertheless, here are today's efforts.
